ALEXANDER RYBAK This 23 year old, very talented young man composed the music and lyrics to "FAIRYTALE" based on Norweigan folk music. It's performed by Rybak himself at the Eurovison 2009 Song Contest in Moscow, with the Norweigian folk dance group "FRIKAR". Being fluent in Russian, Norweigian and English made him a darling with the fans! He made a record breaking clean sweep at the awards. It was the highest tally any country had ever received!
He was born May 13th 1986 in Minsk which at the time was in the Soviet Union (now Belarus) and moved with his parents to Norway when he was 9 years old. Both of them are classical musicans and he has attended the Barratt Due Institute in Oslo since he was 10 where he studied both piano and violin. He has taken a break from his Bachelor's degree studies for the contest. In 2005 he reached the semi-finals in the Norweigian finals of Idol and in 2007 played the fiddler in Oslo's Nye Theater's production of Fiddler on the Roof! He also stars in the movie "YOHAN". He is destined to travel far in the entertainment world based on his record so far. I wish him the best and will keep you posted!
