The 2009 revevial introduced the unprecedented element of selectively weaving Spanish throughout both the book and songs. A pre-Broadway engagement played at Washington, DC's National Theatre, where the musical made its world premiere in 1957. It is being directed by librettistt Arthur Laurents. The new production which opened on Broadway March 19, is getting rave reviews.

Here are two videos to promote their Music Awards, referred to as VMA. Show on September 13th. Beneath each one is a clip from the original movie. Although these are not too bad, they really can't compare. See what you think!

Richard Beymer and Natalie Wood appear here in a nod to Shakespere's balcony scene from "Romeo and Juliette. Marni Nixon dubbed the singing for Natalie and Jimmey Bryant did the same for Richard!.
This ensemble version of "Tonight" when it all comes together in the story, featured Rita Moreno and George Charkiris with Natalie and Richard. The dubbing was again done for the two women by Marni Nixon and for the men by Jimmey Bryant.
Cobra Starship doing the same song that wraps up the whole story. They appeared at the 2006 awards with their song "Bring It" (snakes on a plane) but may be more familiar because of their cover version of "I Kissed a Boy," in summer 2008. They are currently on the Love Drunk tour with the group "Boys Like Girls.
