WHO IS THE TALLEST ONE OF ALL?

Gheorghe Dumitru Mureşan, also known as Ghiţă
and "George", was born February 14, 1971 in Triteni, Romania. He is a retired professional basketball player. At 7 ft 7 in, he is tied with Sudanese player Manute Bol as the tallest man to ever play in the NBA. Like Bol, both his parents are of average size, but unlike Bol his great height is the result of a pituitary disorder.
Mureşan has dabbled in acting, playing the title character in 1998 film My Giant with his co-star, comedian Billy Crystal. He also played a ventriloquist in rap artist Eminem's breakout video "My Name Is", appeared in commercials for Snickers bars and ESPN. On March 11, 2007, he played a game for the Maryland Nighthawks as part of the tallest lineup in the history of basketball. This is also the only basketball game he's ever played where he is not the tallest person on the court, as Sun Mingming is 7 feet 9 inches (2.4 m) - 2 inches taller.

Sūn Míngmíng, born August 23, 1983 is a Chinese basketball player. He is one of the tallest players to ever play professional basketball, standing 7'9" and weighing 370 pounds .

Sun came to the United States in early 2005 to train for a possible career in the NBA. He was declared eligible in the 2005 NBA Draft, and had a brief tryout with the Los Angeles Lakers, but was not selected in the draft.

In the summer of 2005, Sun discovered that he had a benign brain tumor attached to his pituitary gland. Because he had neither health insurance nor enough money to pay for the more than $100,000 in medical bills, his agent, Charles Bonsignore, started a fund raiser to raise the necessary funds. The tumor was successfully removed on September 26, 2005.

After his surgery, Sun played with several minor league basketball teams, and on June 20, 2007, Sun signed with Mexican professional team Fuerza Regia from Monterrey. In 2007 Sun signed to play with Hamamatsu Phoenix in Japan.

Texas Giant in Washington
R.E. Madsen, 7 ft 7 inches!

R.E. Madsen, of Ranger Texas, came to Washington yesterday to see the Marines parade. He tried to join the Leathernecks once and the recruiting officer looked at his 7 feet 7 inches of perpendicularity and said he was too good a target. So he thought he would anyway get first hand information on how ferocious a brigade or two of Marines look, by coming to Washington. In front of the White House a woman fainted during the parade. Madsen picked her up and took her out of the crowd. When she regained consciousness she looked at the tall cowpuncher and fainted again.

Madsen is perhaps the tallest man in the world and is still growing. He is only 22 years old and was a cowpuncher in Ranger country. Since the discover of oil there has not been much punching to do, so Madsen decided to come east with his friend, Sam Houston, of Amarillo, Texas, and see the sights.

ANTELOPE ESCAPES, DARWIN WINS

The Cheetah runs down it's prey until it collapses and can not resist, they then suffocate it. They are very fast but also very small in the cat world. It was the Antelope's lucky day that the Cheetah distracted the Hyena. Since the Cheetah and Hyena had a few seconds to confront each other it gave the Antelope time to recover and make its escape.

Hyenas have very big mouths which can totally disembowel an animal in a few bites. They are both physically and mentally slow relying on other's hard work. They are thought to be the oldest known Conservatives on the planet.

DO ANDROIDS DREAM OF ELECTRIC SLEEP ?.................... THE BRADBURY BUILDING

TIMELINE : 1893 1982 2019
A cult classic, Blade Runner has been hailed for its production design, depicting a "retrofitted" future. It remains a leading example of the neo-noir genre. It brought the work of author Philip K. Dic, "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sleep" on which the movie is based, to the attention of Hollywood, and several more films have since been based on his work. Ridley Scott regards the work as "probably" his most complete and personal film. In 1993, Blade Runner was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant". In 2007, the American Film Institute named it the 97th greatest American film of all time in the 10th Anniversary edition of its 100 years... 100 Movies list.

When Sebastian brought Pris to his apartment, this eerie interior scene left an imprint on my mind that I will never forget. I could not have imagined it was filmed in a Victorian era building! The futuristic decay, the eternal rain and especially the architecture protrayed in the Los Angeles of the future, really intrigued me.

The Bradbury Building ,constructed in 1893, is one of the few places I would insist on searching out if I ever visit Los Angeles again. That enthusiasm dates from first seeing the building’s interior in Blade Runner where Ridley Scott turned its carefully-preserved atrium into J.F. Sebastian’s run-down apartment building. All that wrought-iron and polished terracotta and those elevators! would be compelling enough on their own but their history as a setting for a several film and TV productions only adds to their enchantment.

That a building from the 1890s should be known primarily for its role in a science fiction film perhaps isn’t so surprising when it transpires that the Bradbury’s architect, George Wyman, had been inspired by a passage in a contemporary novel of futurist fantasy, Edward Bellamy’s Looking Backward: From 2000 to 1887.

Wyman’s exterior is fairly nondescript even beside the younger buildings which now surround it, a fairly ordinary office building of the period. It’s the Bellamy-inspired atrium which captures the imagination and one can only wonder what the result might have been had Bellamy been a bit more liberal with his descriptions of America in the year 2000.

MORNING GLORY CLOUDS

The Northern Australian Gulf of Carpentaria hosts one of the most remarkable atmospheric phenomena in the world. Dubbed the Morning Glory, it consists of
rows of tubular clouds, which can span more than 1,000 kilometers, or 620 miles long. Although a beauty to behold, they cause problems for airplanes flying in the area even on windless days.
Theories on how the Morning Glory forms abound.
The international scientific community has yet to
reach any consensus on the issue. It can be best
observed in autumn, in the skies over and around
the town of Burketown, Queensland. Some of these
formations can grow to a height of up to two kilo-
meters or 1,25 miles, and can travel as fast as 35
miles per hour. As it moves over the land, the
phenomenon causes a lot of disturbances in the
regular flow of air.

It generates sudden wind squalls, and intense low
level wind shears, as it rolls past. According to some
measurements, a sharp pressure jump is also
recorded at the surface, inconclusive with other
readings collected from places around the world
where usual roll clouds appear. Meteorologists also
say that air parcels become vertically displaced
and mingled, a situation that is very dangerous for
incoming aircraft. In spite of this fact, every year,
gliders and small airplanes gather in the small town,
to “surf the clouds.”

Inhabitants of Burketown say that the Morning Glory
is more likely to form when more humidity is
recorded in the air, and also when strong breezes
blow the day before. The appearances are usually
associated, climatologists say, with frontal air systems
crossing central Australia, which collide with high
pressures that form in northern Australia. Other
experts believe that the phenomenon may appear on
account of the interactions of mesoscale circulations,
associated with sea breezes that develop over the
peninsula and the gulf.

PROPER PALM BEACH ATTIRE CIRCA 1905

In the good ole summertime ladies and men were very modest in what was worn to the beach for a stroll or even bathing. The ladie's parasol and the gentleman's bowler say so much. So does the bare headed gent in his woolens. His armless jersey top was de rigueur..no man of note was ever seen barechested! Notice that the women are wearing black stockings. Showing even an ankle was risque but there must have been an exception for the young bare legged girl.

Of course these women of social position were dressed for the boat races. The elaborate hats and elegent light colored clothing protected their delacate complexions from the harsh light of the summer sun, but you don't see a single pair of sunglasses! The man with the cane has a cooling seersucker suit but What? No straw hat?

How spiffy He looks in the latest bathing outfit for 1902. It was probably black or grey with a cream trim and you can bet that the wool construction, even lined, was real uncomfortable. Besides weighing you down it tended to be just a little bit itchy!

Those curious tiny houses on wheels are bathing machines, a movable contraption popular in beach resorts in the 19th century. They allowed women to change their clothes in private, reach the waters without parading through open stretches of beach in their bathing suits, and then frolic about in relative privacy and without violating contemporary notions of modesty. These caravans of propriety, were usually simple wooden structures. Lest they invite voyeurs, they were often built without windows. Some were made of canvas and still others were very luxurious affairs, but all of them were on wheels, pulled in and out of the surf by horses or brute human power.

As shown here at Freshwater Bay, Isle of Wright, the English had their own Victorian reticence about how much flesh was exposed. Queen Victoria had her own machine, at Osborne House on the Isle. They were not all of one particular design, but often with steps, very small windows and were pulled into the water by a horse. Many different designs were seen, ranging from those for Royalty to those basic ones which were to be seen on the majority of beaches. Some of the early reports talk of them as being toys of the rich with the ‘less-well off continuing to bathe naked on unfashionable parts of the beach.'

It all changed after the Great War as liberated women made their enfranchisement as voters a demand rather than a request. Two of these demure cutie pies won trophys, perhaps in an early bathing beauty contest.
