WE KNEW IT BEFORE HE KNEW IT

Joe McElderry, the 2009 winner of British talent competition X-Factor, has come out in an interview withThe Daily Mirror.

The 19-year-old singer had previously denied rumors he is gay, but told the UK publication it’s because he didn’t know himself until recently.

“I’ve had time to think about things. I wasn’t attracted to anyone anyway, male or female. It never really entered my head I was gay. But I just know. It’s how I feel.”

McElderry gave the interview just a week after coming out to his mother. He says he never hid his sexuality out of fear: “I know it sounds crazy but before then, I was so busy. It hadn’t even crossed my mind.”

Very rare Thorens "Excelda" Camera phone Phonograph
Switzerland
1930's
This is an authentic Excelda portable gramophone, the portable phonograph of the 1930's that resembled the pocket cameras of that time (usually refereed to as a "Cameraphone"). It was made by Thorens, the famous Swiss manufacturer of gramophones and sold in the early 1930's. This model is in brown with metal, faux-lizard, crackly finish. The speed control are operated by a lever at the back of the gramophone. The 2.5" turntable is covered in brown felt, and the record is secured by screw that closes the case. The leather carrying handle is intact and in sturdy condition. The Dimensions are 2" high, 11" long, and 4 and 3/4" wide. This phonograph is absolutely authentic and complete with all parts, The condition is exceptional. It was kept in the red felt bag (as seen with moth holes), but because of this it is perfect original condition. A real collectors piece.

You can watch a Utube demonstration of this wonderful player.

HAREM HOUSE?

Versailles ($100 million)

Windermere, Florida

Versailles—a name the house was given by time-share mogul David Siegel after he visited the French palace—is billed as the largest single-family home in America. The 90,000-square-foot mansion on Lake Butler in Florida includes 13 bedrooms and 23 bathrooms; a 20-car garage; 11 kitchens (one of which has a hibachi grill that seats 12); two movies theaters; six pools; an indoor roller skating rink; a two-lane bowling alley; and a 7,200-square-foot grand hall. But wait—there’s more: 1.4 miles of lakeshore; a stadium-size tennis court; and a full-sized baseball diamond. “It would be perfect for a sheik with a harem. I mean, there are plenty of bedrooms for all of his wives’ children, too,” Lorraine Barrett, the home’s real-estate agent,
told My Fox Orlando. “Or maybe I was thinking a rich Russian that likes to show off his money.

FRACTURED MARS CRATER

This observation from NASA's Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter shows the floor of a large impact crater in the southern highlands, north of the giant Hellas impact basin. Most of the crater floor is dark, with abundant small ripples of wind-blown material. However, a pit in the floor of the crater has exposed light-toned, fractured rock.

The light-toned material appears fractured at several different scales. These fractures, called joints, result from stresses on the rock after its formation. Joints are similar to faults, but have undergone virtually no displacement. With careful analysis, joints can provide insight into the forces that have affected a rock, and thus yielding clues into its geologic history. The fractures appear dark, which may be due to dark, wind-blown sand, precipitation of different minerals along the fracture, or both.

CORPORATE POWER UNLEASHED

Fabian Brunsing’s public art installation imagines a dystopian tomorrow in which even the most everyday of conveniences — a moment on a park bench — have become soulless objects of enterprise. resting

SHE'S NOT THE ONLY ONE

While speaking at a college in the Philippines last year, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was asked, "If you had a crush, aside from Bill Clinton, who would it be?" Hillary quickly retreated into the safety of discussing her preeminent crush as a schoolgirl — fifties and sixties teenage heartthrob Fabian:
"Many, many, many, many years ago, when I was young, there was a singer in the United States whose name was Fabian. Some of you who are my age remember. And I was president of the Fabian fan club. And there were, like, three of us in it, but we took it very seriously."

That's cute, but we wanted to know if the feeling was mutual. So we called up Fabian — who
still performs with other acts of his era like Bobby Vee and the Chiffons — to see how he feels about Hillary Clinton.
Fabian was impressed, first and foremost, with how Hillary dodged the question asked of her to begin with. "It was fucking incredible," he told us during a break from felling trees on his property in western Pennsylvania. "You know what I mean? I mean, I thought that was just fucking brilliant. I thought it was beautiful — being a politician, she got herself out of that one pretty good." So he appreciates her ability to evade a question, but what about her as a person? Does he like her, or even ... like like her? Turns out that Fabian is, in fact, a member of the Hillary fan club (metaphorically). "The reason why I’m really a fan of hers is that with all she has been through [laughs], she comes out great," he told us. "I mean, she came through Bill Clinton, she came through Obama, and she’s making the best with what she has."
He continued, "I mean, she’s an incredible woman. You know, she’s got bigger balls than most men out there." That's an incredible woman, indeed.

WHAT'S OLD IS NEW AGAIN

One in a series of commercials that are so popular they have gone viral, sparked parodies from Bringham Young and are even produced as ads on YouTube answering fans questions in real time. As this 1970's commercial below proves the basic theme has not changed in 40 years.
